This mahogany entry unit, while relatively new, had suffered from the sun and elements causing the finish to fail. The premature peeling and fading was due to inferior finishing methods and materials. The door was carefully removed from the jambs, stripped to bare wood, and sanded glass smooth while protecting the interior facing surface. The sidelights were also stripped and sanded to provide a clean, fresh surface for the new high solids, oil based final coating. Three coats of this exceptional quality product were applied by brush giving the wood a rich, deep, natural color that will not peel and fail like the previous finish. With the glass cleaned and the porch fixtures returned to their respective places, this home is ready to create a great first impression.
